Our team and expertise

Laura Dempsey, Director

Investigator and HR Consultant

Laura is a trained and qualified member of the International Association of Workplace Investigators.  

Holding the international AWI certificate shows she demonstrates success at achieving the core knowledge and skills necessary to successfully perform impartial Workplace Investigations.

Laura also has extensive HR experience across all facets of the HR profession, from initial HR strategies, through to detailed support performance management services, organisation redesigns and team structures.


• Employment Relations – For those “not so nice” issues, our services include employment relations advice, conducting employment investigations and mediation.

• Mentoring – For managers who are wanting to develop their own confidence and understanding of how to correct poor performance within their team and develop their own understanding of employment relations.

• HR Projects and Policy Development – For organisations who may need extra support with specific HR projects, developing HR policies from scratch or reviewing and updating their current policies.

Laura has a passion for working with organisations that want to make a difference to other people’s lives.

Laura’s experience is backed up with a Post Graduate Diploma in HR Management, membership of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand, the Resolution Institute and the Association of Workplace Investigators. She also holds the AWI certificate (course completed in Vail, Colorado) and holds a licence and Certificate of Approval with The Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority.  

James Dempsey, Director

Strategic and Business Management

James is an experienced business change manager with a strong background in line management. Known for his passion and dedication, he has key skills in:

• Leadership and Management – Applying sense of vision, integrity, common sense, and understanding of people and management frameworks to achieve objectives.

• Problem Solving – Quickly able to provide clarity to complexity, having considered a wide range of detailed factors and presented the relevant findings simply.

• Communication Skills – Using a range of verbal, written and graphic skills to convey messages and engage people for their best change outcome.

• The Management “fix-it guy” – Working across government, private sector and not-for-profit organisations.

Owen Dance, Associate

Investigator

• Interviewing – Applying experience gained over many hundreds of interviews to gather and record all the facts pertinent to the issue fairly and thoroughly.

 Report Writing – Using skills gained over a lifetime during which he has won international prizes for writing on police policies and operations in professional papers and magazines.

• Conflict Resolution – Impartially enabling parties to find win-win solutions to personal and workplace problems

Owen is a licenced workplace investigator with the Private Investigation Authority. He completed training in 2021 with the Association of Workplace Investigators, holds a Master of Public Policy degree, a Diploma in Police Studies and the UK Institute of Logistics and Transport Diploma in People Management and Resource Management.
